Season 6, Episode 14.

Synopsis: Carrie finds Petrovsky’s extreme romance to be too much, she feels “ick” when he does the most. Miranda proposes to Steve and they get married this episode, very sweet. Samantha wants a boob job, but instead she finds out she has breast cancer. Charlotte and Harry blow up the bathroom together because of food poisoning, now that’s true romance!
Discussion: Miranda proposing to Steve was very cute, because it was just spur-of-the-moment after him telling her, “I don’t ever want to lose you again.” It also aligns with her character on the show, because she always takes the lead, so that was good writing in general. Their plot-line on this episode was very smooth and just showed realistic romance from the breakfast proposal to the small wedding of about 10 people in a quaint garden.
Carrie who is a New York girl that isn’t into extravagant gestures, or just hasn’t been exposed to them by her ex lovers, cannot be bothered by her famed artist Russian lover’s grand romantic gestures. He reads her poems, writes music about her, and even gets her Oscar Del La Renta gowns to wear to The Met opera, wooohh I’m even wore out from all that! I can’t fault Carrie though because it can be a little “ick” when someone is just being too much, like calm down, give me some lead up, not every romantic gesture has to be within one month. Also, the way he is treating her is foreign for a girl living in New York and just writes a weekly column, but I guess that is the treatment you get when you are dating a foreign artistic man with loads of money… maybe I wouldn’t mind.
The ladies friendship in this episode was very sweet and showed how much they care for each other: they are each others family. From when Miranda told them she was getting married and them being so happy for her, it even made Samantha cry happy tears for romance– that is rare! To the ladies uplifting Samantha about her boobs even though she wanted a boob job, then being there for her when she tells them she has breast cancer. Their show of complete love for one another really made me tear up the whole episode; aww I just love these ladies.
Overall rating: This episode definitely deserved the top spot as number one. the humor, love, and sadness this episode had really put it above all of the other episodes. Each character had something to bring and not a bit of dialogue was wasted. I love any episode where the core theme is friendship and this is all about their love for each other and that just gave me huge smile. I would give this episode a 10/10.
